Google Earth crashes everytime I try to do a search
iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011)
Thanks for the fix!
Are there any functions that do not work after the deletion of "move-media plug in?"
None that I've noticed.
Not very sceintific I know.
Mine crashes upon startup - unless I disconnect the connection to the internet.
Tried:
1. Deleting myplaces files
2. Moving all the internet plugins to a separate folder and restarting (didn't work, so I moved them back)
3. Re-installing the GE program.
4. Installed it on an older mac downstairs, and it works just fine (and yes, I can use this mac, but it is not my main one, it is much older, and darn it, I want it to work!!!)
OS X 10.8.4
Mac - 3.4 GHz i7 w/ 32 GB of RAM.... ain't nothing wrong with this machine! 🙂
Here is an interesting thing. If I am off the net (WiFi disconnected,) Start google earth THEN connect, I stay connected. Then, if I try to do a search, Bam, I am kicked out again.
Very odd, very frustrating. I wonder if anyone has any help???
I had given up on Google Earth after the upgrade to 7.1.1.1888. I didn't use it for several months until I found Brain 213's solution here. How anyone ever figured this out is beyond me, but it works. It fixed the crashing problem on both my MacBook Air and my iMac, both running Lion. Thanks so much, Brain213.
Followed tip to delete /Users/your user name/Library/Internet Plug-Ins and it solved the problem.
I had the same problem where Google Earth would crash everytime I try to do a search. I followed the suggestion and deleted the move-media-plugin and VOILA, it WORKED!!!! Thanks guys!!!!
brain213's solution worked for me! Google's solution did not. Thank you brain213!

Deleting the move-media plugin works! Google Earth Search works again. Thank you very much!! I spent six hours trying two dozen things suggested on the MAC and Google forums. None of them worked and some of them took alot of work just to try out. This one works immediately and takes about one minute!! THANK YOU!!!!!!! I hope you post this fix on Google too because it isn't there.
solved mine too. that file is a Terminal thing. i guess what it does is spoil it for Google Earth.
