Q: Is there a keyboard shortcut to switch between open documents?

Is there an easy way to switch between 2 or 3 open documents in Pages, as when trying to combine excerpts from several places into a new document?

No, there isn't. you can't even set your own shor cut keys as you don't know what the documents will be named. Normally you can add short cuts keys but only for those menus options that already exist but your documents will change. I have searched for the answer earlier as I also want it.

There is in the Pages Help menu an option for  Keyboard shorcuts but nothing is mentioned ther about changing document windows.

command ~ (the tilde key, above the tab key) is the universal switch between documents key on the Mac.

Can't be universal as it doesn't work with swedish keyboard. Which keyboards does it work with?

As usual you are right fruhulda and I failed to detail that that is for the English, American, Australian keyboards.

But we always have problems with keyboard shortcuts for the non-Anglo world.

Actually, the shortcut is Command with the grave accent, which I believe is Command and Shift and acute accent on a Swedish keyboard. That works with a Swedish keyboard on my (American) English system. I didn't try switching my system language.

(On an English keyboard, the tilde is actually Shift and grave accent, but the shortcut does not use the Shift key. However, since the tilde is probably much more recognizable than the accent, the shortcut is usually called "Shift tilde.")

Jeff, I did try that earlier and it didn't work. If I the keyboard to US English I could use Cms + ~

Since it's a system function rather than an application function, could you look in Finder help & see what that says, fruhulda?

I did look in the Mac help and it only tells how to switch between applications and not window though the title is "Switching between applications and windows".

Yes, found the information but the shortcut doesn't work. It says Cmd + Shift + ~  but to get the Tilde you have to hold dwon Alt key and if you also press Shift you get ^ instead which is probably why it doesn't work. Nor does it work without the Shft key.

I now that the shortcut depends on your keyboard layout.

For that reason, I would like to ask if someone knows what is the keyboard shortcut to switch between several open documents in Pages 5 on a (Western or International) SPANISH KEYBOARD, please.

By the way, the ~ key doesn't exist in the Spanish keyboard.

I would really appreciate it for the kind of work I'm doing.

Thanks in advance and sorry if this has already been solved in another discussion.

ilffv, I had the same question. I started pressing key combinations, and I found the way for a Spanish keyboard:

    cmd + `

` is located next to the p key

Thanks Catasa, but I must have a "Martian" keyboard because it doesn't work cmd + ` for me. No idea why.
