Can't Edit Song Info(greyed out)

There is the case also of special permissions that have been set.. & for me nothing I did allowed me to change the 'read only' settings to windows folders (they kept being re-applied). This isn't the real issue or culprit here though, because when I moved or deleted the file(s), windows didn't complain that they were 'read only'. In any event, what worked for me was changing to 'manually manage music and videos' (click apply), then editing 'On this Ipod' (update info and tags). Info should not be greyed out now. Next go into 'Artists' and make the same change, so unfortunately you have to make to changes. This is just a work-around, as it is an apple bug to be sure (but it worked for me). Itunes isn't good software, they want to capitalize too much, and have lost focus on quality! Incidentally, you may very well not be able to sync (esp new music) in 'manually manage music and videos' so you'll now have to change it back to 'sync only checked songs and videos' (unchecking manually manage). If you have any other work-arounds here, please post it up.

What a piece of **** itunes is, just simply try this for the info/tag edits: Go into 'Library' then 'Artists' (make changes) and sync, it should then be reflected on the device. Trying to edit 'On this Ipod' simply will not work in this case.

Is the album that its in uploading to iTunes Match at the same time? if it is then this will gray it out also.

I tried what you said and it allowed me to do it all up until the last step where it than told me that "error applying security"
which was followed by the song title and "failed to enumerate objects in container. Access is denied"
When I pressed continue the same message popped up with every song title in the folder, any idea how to get around this?

Have you tried taking ownership first?

Might also be worth checking the drive for errors.
