Iphoto 11 Custom layout tab

In Iphoto 11, when making a photo book, how to you use the custom layout tab? It is only available in certain themes, like photo essay and picture book, but when I try to use it, the boxes remain blue and do not show the photos that I place.

Thank you for your response...I guess I am not making this as clear as I should. I realize the layout tab is available in all themes as I have made a lot of photo books, but if I click down, there are many other options available..number of photos, map, blank, spread, but one other option is the Custom tab which is available on certain themes. It is interesting and has different arrangements including text boxes. When I attempt to use it, only blue boxes open and the photos don't appear. Not sure how to use it. Does this make sense?

Not that this is any help but I vaguely remember seeing or hearing about the custom tab - I can't find anything in a search (although Google comes up with one of Old Toad's tutorials for customizing iPhoto books - Yea)

My thought is that it only appears after you do something or have a certain set of conditions (sorry but no idea what) and I have no memory of what you can do with it

In fooling around and looking for it I did revive the key strokes for changing a layout - Command-control- arrow to move a photo frame -- Shift-Command-control- arrow to move a photo frame in larger increments -- Oprion-Command-control- arrow to change a photo frame size

I have not seen those documented but occasionally someone finds them and posts here

Here the are:

You can "adjust" a photo frame or text box size on a page with the following key combinations:

Command + Option +⬆arrow: increase frame height.

Command + Option +⬇arrow: decrease frame height.

Command + Option + ➜ arrow: increase frame width.

Command + Option + ⬅ arrow: decrease frame width.

To adjust its position on the page use these key combinations:

Command + Control + ➜ arrow: move frame to right.

Command + Control + ⬅ arrow: move frame to left.

Command + Control + ⬆ arrow: rotate frame counter clockwise.

Command + Control + ⬇ arrow: rotate frame clockwise.

You can conver the standard frame (on the left) to this one (on the right)
