Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Safari 6.0.4 does not open any pages (but Firefox works)

A couple of days later after the update to 6.0.4, Safari is unable to load any pages.

I have disabled all extensions and run OnyX over it, but without any success.

All options in Proxies in the network preferences are deselected.

Firefox and other applications can use the LAN-Internet-Connection without any issues.

Does it have something to do with another problem, because I can not open the Java Control Panel (it always crashes)

I have a Mac Pro 3.1 running with 10.8.3

Can somebody please help?

Many thanks

Regards

Nils

FYI,

I've got a mac pro 4,1 and have been having a **** of a time with it since mountain lion came out. Today safari quit working and I used the above step to reinstall it which fixed the issue.

Thanks Niles. And yes Linc I'm not using a proxy server so you are correct in asking Tim not to post about that. It is a different issue.

Now if I can just get the latest version of MSOffice to quit crashing at start up....

NO not correct Gregory!

The reason why you have had to reinstall is because Apple has screwed up and it just so happens that I had the same symptoms that points towards the EXACT component Apple has screwed up on.

Reinstalling has worked for me. The point is Apple read these and along with the filed bug report they get a full picture of the consequences of messing up Safari 6 web components!

NO I did not say that if you read the thread carefully.

1. i am saying I had the same problem where Safari wouldn't load pages but Firefox would.

2. I am saying I did the same thing as others and re-installed Safari without doing anything else and all is ok now

3. Others in different threads I mentioned have identified the WebKit component as the culprit

4. Have you filed a bug report to Apple to make them aware of the problems you have had so it doesn't happen to others?

Safari 6.0.4 does not open any pages (but Firefox works)
