For everyone else who runs into this problem, I've found another solution. Using the details described at this link, I was able to run Airport Utility 5.6, which supports full WPS (as opposed to just WPS printer in 6.3). After getting 5.6, just click the airport icon you want to connect to, then Base Station->Add Wireless Clients (on the menu bar). Change the radio button to "First Attempt", then "Continue". At this point, you can proceed with the DAP-1320 WPS setup.

As a side note, if this works for you, I recommend sending a small donation to this site's owner, since it was literally the only thing I found that worked for me

Background on the link: for users with OSX Lion 10.7 and above, Airport 5.6 won't install. The problem lies with the installer and not with the actual program instelf. The instructions on the link guide you on how to extract the package from the installer and then just run the app.

I have the same challenge - but nothing seems to work - can anyone please help?

My set up is an iMac (Mountain Lion) and a fairly new Airport Extreme. I installed a DAP-1320 a few months ago and it worked perfectly then, just using the Easy Setup.

I have since upgraded my internet package which necessitated a new Modem (Cisco DPC3825). This has caused problems. First my Extreme wouldn't work until I reset it. Also the DAP-1320 quit and despite following all the above suggestions it stubbornly refuses to do anything but keep blinking that orange light.

Grateful for any suggestions!

I just got the DAP-1320 today (10Jan2014) and installed it with my Airport Time Capsule and iMac running Mountain Lion 10.9.1

The link for using the old Airport Utility 5.6 didn't work for me because the Automator wouldn't extract the app from the package.

First, I was able to access the DAP-1320 plugged in in my son's room (two rooms down) by switching my wireless network (I've got the wireless icon on the menu bar and pulled down to join the DAP-1320 network, which for me was dlink-1xxx). But, when I searched for my home network on the browser configuration, I got 'no networks found'

What did it for me was leaving my iMac on the home network, going to Airport Utility and opening up my network to password access (where previously I had it set to Timed Access Control with each device MAC address having to being logged into the network before accepting a password from them). With the network opened to new devices -- but still password protected -- I used my iPhone to access the DAP-1320 network and use the manual configuration option to scan for my home network -- voila!! Then I changed the name of my DAP-1320 extended network, changed the password from the factory installed and logged into my home network. All appears to be functional so far.

On the down side, I don't know if I'll be able to run the exclusionary network I had before. It's very handy when you want the kids to do their chores -- just cut off their WiFi access and stuff gets down quick. I'll play with this and see if I can make it work again. We'll see.

Thanks,

John

I think what many people fail to realize is the OBVIOUS here. Your computer/laptop needs to be connected to your DAP-1320 for you to be able access the http://dlinkap.local I monkeyed with this all morning, and had same problem as you - that my laptop just would not open the dlinkap page. Well, DUHHHH, I did not think that I needed to be connected to the DAP-1320 first. Once doing that, BAM, dlinkap.local comes right up to be manually configured with my router. Like you, I searched online for quite a while and NO ONE pointed this simple part out.

EVEN the DLink.com website says NOTHING about this one simple thing.

So, everyone who reads this in the future - take note. In order to access the http://dlinkap.local page, your computer needs to FIRST be connected to your DAP-1320 via your wireless network setup on your computer.

Do that first, THEN type in your Internet Explorer, Chrome, FireFox (or whatever) the dlinkap.local address. AND BOOM BAM POW the Web Browser Setup page will come up.

You cannot be connected to your GOOD router for this to work. You MUST be only connected to your Wireless Range Extender. So many people miss the obvious - and get all techy and crap - and that has nothing to do with solving this very common issue with this DAP-1320.

And another trick answer that no one seems to point out - the default password for ADMIN when you do get there is.............. NOTHING! BLANK! NO PASSWORD AT ALL. (what kind of cruel joke is that???) There is no password for ADMIN when you get to dlinkap.local TAKE NOTE OF THIS.

Y'all have a great day now.
