Had this baby for 5 years, this is my first problem!
iMac, Safari Crashing
Not sure if it will be slow, even with Rosetta. Worth a try.

I did actually. Shut down, restarted, did it again to be sure.
Define a new account. Run safarie on the new account. If no problem, you have a bad perference file.

That was interesting - I did switch accounts, and voila! My Safari worked fine on the other account. Do you know how I can repair the bad system preferences?

That's good news. Usually, you move them to the desktop. Must apps will recreate the preference files from scratch.
You can export your bookmarks.
I do see:
here is the peference file
/Users/mac/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
and a whole directory.
/Users/mac/Library/Safari/
best to do a search for safari.
Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
# press return to run the command.
#try this terminal command. Might try cleaning out all safari caches.
find -x ~ -iname "*safari*"
imac safari keeps crashing...crash report says...
