You cannot download music to an iPod classic, you can only sync your device with iTunes.

In order for the music to got to the iPod you need to click on the cloud next to the track and download it to the computer. Then you can plug in the iPod and sync it. I think you need to have "Manually Manage Music" checked and drag and drop tracks, albums and playlists onto the iPod. Or you can go into our account in the iTunes store and download all your music back down at once.

I struggled with this too and figured out a way to do it pretty easily. There's actually a way to do it without downloading the music onto your computer, but it's a bit of a "workaround" solution. Go to your album list (or song list or whatever), and click the "..." next to the title. The 5th item down on the menu says "Add to..." If you click that, you're iPod should pop up as an option. If that doesn't work, try enabling "disk use" on the iPod Summary Menu and try again. *Disclaimer, I'm using a MAC, not a PC, so don't know if this works on both platforms. Anyway, you can't just sync the whole library, but at least you don't have to download everything and sync one at a time.

Hope this helps.
