HP Scanner

I'm looking for a scanner update of some sort to my HP Color LaserJet 2840.

My understanding is HP no longer supports this model so wiht my Mac Pro Desktop 2012, I can no longer use the scanner unit.

I would even like to review a third party software that will do the job.

Mac Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Yes I have but consider this: If the scanner is not visible to Apple or HP, it is also not visible to Image Capture or Preview.

For those interested in Vuescan, if the scanner is not visible to Apple or HP then Vuescan cannot see it and therefore is just another Preview app without scanning capabilities. I have Vuescan and it is as I say.

What is needed from Apple and HP is support for All-in-One printers to upgrade the firmware to include the scanner. The latest fireware upgrade did not include scanner upgrade. It has been done for other printers especially for Windows. Trouble there is that scanned documents cannot be migrated to the Mac side of the computer.

Of course one can keep and maintain an older Mac computer just for scanning???

I'm still hopeful.
