I just did a complete refresh of my iMac, including a reinstall of OSX and Aperture 3.x. I've noticed that after importing images from a memory card, and selecting the option to delete images and eject the card, Aperture no longer ejects (unmounts) the card, so I get the warning message when I pull the card out of the card-reader. Any idea what could have changed to cause that? Thanks.

Can you eject from the Finder?
Or is another program still using the card? Try quitting all applications, including Aperture.
It's the same 8Gb card which ejected/unmounted successfully before I did the reinstall. No other program is using the card.
I see this occasionally. I don't know the cause. Some combination of reformatting the card (in the camera) and rebooting has always chased this goblin back under the bridge.
So -- purely as witch-doctoring -- what happens if you reformat the card and reboot the machine?

Unmounting the card after you let Aperture erase the images from the card may take several minutes for a large card. Just wait ten minutes or so, and eventually Aperture will release the card - usually. How long did you wait?
A safer fix would be, not to let Aperture erase the images from the card, but to eject directly after import without erasing. This way, nothing needs to be written to the card. That is also quicker, and this way you can check, if the import went o.k., before the card will be erased. It is better for the file system on the card to erase the card by reformatting in the camera.
Thanks leonieDF, I understood your question. I've waited minutes and I've waited hours (forgetting to remove the card), with no difference. I generally use 8Gb cards, and as I said the only change in the approach which I've followed for eons was the reinstallation of both the OS and Aperture 3.x. I don't believe it's the erasing which is an issue, but the ejecting/unmounting of the card. Perhaps it's just one of those quirks which will correct itself at the next full moon.

Are you able to eject the card using Finder? (Asked above by Léonie -- I didn't see an answer.)
I have had the same problem for a good few weeks now too. It used to work and now Aperture doesn't eject the card after importing.
I've done the following:
* Rebooted
* Reformatted the card in the camera
* Waited for over 25 minutes for a 16GB card
Yes, I can eject the card from Finder.
I have the same issue. And my experience is the same as Robfromworcester. Outside Aperture the card reacts normally.

What kind of images are on the card? Is there any video files on your card? If those are not there, does it eject? Did you try another card? What brand of card? I mostly use SanDisk with no issues.
Sandisk extreme compact flash 16go with lexar pro reader USB 3.0.
Problem only with last version of Aperture and on MacBook Pro and macpro.
I've got a mix of cards, including lexar and sandisk, plus an off-brand or two. And the files are a mix of JPG and RAW formats.
In a separate discussion, others feel the problem is related to erasing the files. They feel the software will eject if you "keep" the files. I haven't tested this.

Maybe it's a specific import setting, or the delete option as DougWW mentions. Have you all tried various import settings (Ref vs managed, common card readers, renaming...). There might be an error posted in your console.
This problem has been evident for the last couple of months. I have experienced it with 4 different cameras and cards .... think it started after the latest Aperture update?
