Selecting Speakers in the Remote app

I am trying to use the Remote app on my iPad to control iTunes playback from my iMac. Everything seems to work except that I cannot select the remote speakers that are connected to my AirPort Express. I can select them from the iMac in iTunes and I can select them from the Remote app on my iPhone. Am I just missing the control for the speaker selection or is this jsut something you can't do from the iPad?

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi, iOS 6.1.3

Do you see the AirPlay icon beside the volume slider in the playback controls when you select "Now Playing" in the Remote app?

I deleted the Remote app (from both the iPad and iTunes), shut down the iPad, started it back up, and then re-downloaded and re-installed Remote and now I can see the Airplay icon. I'm not sure which step fixed the problem but now it seems to work.
