Try this: open Trash and do Command + a (to select all) then right click on one item (all items should remain selected) and choose 'put back'. Does that restore all them to their previous locations in one go?

Edit: Then rush out and get an external disk so that you can keep a Time Machine or Clone (or both) backup of all your valuable data.

I did not have any backups... I am still used to Windows, and I was hoping that I could do a quick restore, but I guess Mac doesn't do that either.

Odd. It worked for me on a test of two items.

Maybe try smaller subsets. Also, it could be that some do not have links anymore. They might cause a group selection to fail.

A person has posted a link to their Applescripts, one of which will sequentially go through the items and put them back.

Select them all and right-click on one of them. Select Put Back. It is also available in the File menu.

Oh boy. Not that I know of.

Have you done a backup at all? Before you trashed everything?
