iPad Mini - Unable to open mobi files into another app...

Just got an iPad mini and it appears that I can't open mobi files on my Kindle app. I also have an iPad3 and I have no problems opening mobi files on my Kindle app on it.

Basically I put my mobi e-books on skydrive and when I want to put them in the Kindle app I just select to open the files in another app and I can select the Kindle app. I am unable to do this with my iPad mini.

Both my iPad3 and Mini are running IOS 6.1.3. I did some google searches and found that this may be an issue with some iPads running 6.1.3. I installed a file manager app on my Mini and it appears that it sees the mobi files as rar format files so it does not give me the option to open them with the Kindle app.

Does anyone know if there is a fix for this issue? I was planning on using my Mini as my primary e-book reader and I was hoping to be able to do this without having to convert all my mobi files into mother format

Any help resolving this issue will be much appreciated!

I have the same situation with my ipad3 - I can't associate the mobi files with Kindle from Dropbox. I contacted Dropbox support; they said it was not their problem; I contacted Amazon Kindle support, they said that it was very unlikely that it had anything to do with their application. Somehow I got the feeling that Dropbox and Kindle we're trying to say that the problem can be solved only by Apple. BTW, I have a 4 generation iPod and it still loads the mobi books into Kindle.

I hope that Apple will take a look into this matter and fix it.

I figured out how to do it. Or at least, it's working for me on my iPad mini.

I access the file through Safari and following the prompt to open in the Kindle app. The .mobi file opened right up. When I went into my Kindle library, I thought it disappeared, but turns out the file was stored on the "Device" tab within the Kindle app.

Now, I have my .mobi saved into a folder within Google Docs. Don't know if that made the difference, but I thought I'd just say, "Hey! Got it to work on my iPad Mini. Hope what I did works for you".

Good luck & hope you get it resolved, one way or another.
