I used my headphones yesterday and it was working well. Today I used them and there is more noise from the left hand side and I tired another headphone and still the same thing. My mac is under a year old. I used both my headphones on my iPad (just in case it's an apple thing).

You are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare, call them. Let them deal w/it.
