Apple TV was working fine until I made the error of updating the Apple TV software. Now my Sony Bravia won't anymore connect over HDMI to Apple TV and I get out of range error. I have tried to hold down the menu and up key but no luck. This is clearly and Apple TV issue as it happened during the software update. Any ideas how to solve this?
PS. Apple products are getting really bad these days...
The problem seemed to be the failed sw update. After connecting Apple TV to my Mac and restoring the software through itunes, everything works again. All you need is a micro USB to USB (most digital cameras supply this) and connecting Apple TV to computer. The restore is done then through iTunes. Whole process takes a few minutes and is easy
That is not possible and it's unlikely to be due to the update. What have you done to troubleshoot your network?
Well my Apple TV was working fine until I updated it. After I updated it is when I was getting the out of range message. I have restored my Apple TV multiple times. Tried new HDMI cords. Tried converter cords. Nothing seems to be working.
That doesn't matter, network issues can come about at any time..an update won't cause this on it's own but rather a vulnerability in the network may have more impact. If you truly want to rule it out then do proper troubleshooting, making assumptions isn't going to help the situation.
I restored my Apple TV and it didn't work. I wish there was some way to restore it and not upgrade it because the upgrade is was messed it up.
That doesn't mean it's not network related.
Try ethernet. Go to istumbler (Mac) or netstumbler (PC) to get a report of the network, look for signal strength and noise.
My network hasn't changed. My Apple TV hasn't worked in months, but my brother didn't update his and guess what, it still works. Oh, his works in my bedroom as well, where MY Apple Tv doesn't work.
