how do take vocals out of a song using garageband

I am new to using garageband and need to know if it is possible to remove the vocals from a song from my itunes and then add the vocals from another song to the one I'm trying to edit. And also any other tips would be great as far as making the process smoother. Also I am using garageband 09 so if I need to update it that would also be nice to know.

GarageBand '09, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Garageband cannot unmix audio files, you will need a program that can separate the mixed songs into tracks, like (the rather expensive) Melodyne, or at least an audio editor for that.
