Why is my ipod touch 4g 8gb dying so fast it jumps at 4 percent at a time from a hundred percent and dies in 30 minutes

i have a 4th generation ipod touch that dies in 30 minutes or less, sometimes it will just shut off at like 50 percent and turn back on like its not even dead what is going on?

iPod touch, iOS 6.1.3, its a year old

The % battery is not accurate.

If a full charge only last 30 minutes after restoring to factory setting/new iPod that indicates a bad battery.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one with a new battery for $79. They do not fix yours.

A third-party place like the following will replace the battery for less. Google for more.

Replace the battery yourself if you are up to it. You can purchase a replacement for about $10.
