Help?! refurbished iPad 2

So I just bought a refurbished iPad 2 16GB from Amazon.com and I'm unable to connect it to my home wifi. It wont register any signal, including the personal hotspot on my iPhone and our neighbors wifi which registers on my other iPad and on my laptop. It also will not charge or open in itunes when plugged into my computer. The computer DOES recognize it however and opens the "view files on this device" window when its pluggged in.

I have tried:

-hard reset

-network reset

-total settings reset

-erasing all content and settings

and nothing seems to work. Bluetooth is also unable to connect.

Some things to try first:

1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

• Launch Settings app

• Tap on Wi-Fi

• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

I hope someone has an answer for you. If not...

I suggest you return it to Amazon right away.

I was surprised that you can buy a refubished ipad from Amazon, so I checked the site and all I could find were referrals to other sellers.

If you can get a full refund, you should take it and then go to the Apple Store > scroll down left screen > refurbished ipad. When they come up, scroll down left again and click on iad 2 > wifi. Right now they are available for $319. They come and go from the site, so when you're sure you have a refund, buy one here. (If you want a white one, you might want ot act fast. While checking availability for almost two weeks, a white one only showed up the other day. Black ones were there all along.

All refurbished ipads in the Apple Refurb Store come with a new front and back, a brand new battery, and a full one year warranty. We bought two 64 gb wi-fi last year and just bought a 16gb for my father-in-law's 91st birthday days ago.

Hope this helps.

Hi again,

I checked the Apple refurb store earlier today. Now there are only white 16gb ipad 2's on the site. However, the black ones usually come up fairly often. 32 gb are not in the refurb store too often. The 64 gb are there. Last June, when we got my husband a 64 gb (planned on a new ipad 2 32 gb, but sold out everywhere) there were many on the site. Weeks later, one of our sons decided to buy one. We could not get any until almost two months later as he was going back to college.

The good thing is, though, if you want to stick with the 16 gb, the ipad 2 with cellular is surprisingly, only $30.00 more. At that price, and given that you can get it without a contract and use the cellular on a month to month basis, I would go with that. If bought new, one pays an additional $130.00 for a 16 gb with cellular. I suggest if you return the ipad to Amazon and the color you want is not available, go with the 16gb with cellular.

Hope this helps.
