there are horizontal flashing lines appearing on the macbook pro screen before start up, the only way i have got rid of them so far is to shut it down and start it back up repeatedy 3/4 times, what do i do to get rid of them ?

When they appear, do they show only at the startup or they show also after starting OS X? In that case, it may indicate that your graphic card or display is damaged, so you should take your computer to an Apple Store or reseller
What if they only show on start up? I have a late 2011 13" MBP that shows horizontal lines when I open it to log in but they disappear very quickly. This just started recently, I can't help but think that this is the beginning of a bigger issue right? Thanks
