What does error 4ROM/4/40000000 mean? How can this be fixed?

When powering on it gives one long beep and then fails to boot. It will spin up attempting, but doesn't fully engage. If I repeatedly hit the power button it will eventually boot up, but it takes four or five attempts. I know it's not the RAM and disk utility found no problems. The hardware test, short and extended, both resulted in error 4ROM/4/40000000. I'm wondering how bad this is and if I'll need a whole new motherboard? Basically, will it cost enough where I should consider a whole new computer?

iMac (27-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Zap the PRAM and Reset the SMC, then try extended AHT tests again.

I think I've already zapped the PRAM, but I'm not positive because I can't get it to repeat the start up sound with out pausing and giving me the long beep. It then takes another 3 or 4 attempts to get it to boot. I guess I can try resetting the SMC, never done that before.

Thanks for your help. I've looked at that chart several times and others too. I've tried reseating and booting with different RAM congfigurations, no luck. I don't think it's a firmware update, but not sure. I'm to the point where I've considered wiping the drive and reinstalling the original OS, then restroing from time machine, but when I came across the 4ROM/4/40000000 error it seemed more hardware based?

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57352461-263/how-to-invoke-and-interpret-th e-apple-hardware-tests/ discusses most codes, but doesn't mention ROM ones. I'm suspecting something to with a ROM module someplace. Your best bet would be to take it into an Apple repair station.

So I see Apple is like Microsoft as to you can go to their support site and get any useful info from someone at Apple on issues. I can't even find anything on google about this.
