can I get my stolen ipad through its serial no.?

At the very least, Apple could keep a list of stolen iPads for *internal* use. There's nothing to stop the thief of my iPad from getting a warranty repair. Perhaps they'd even be able to go to a Genius Bar and get help in wiping the data.

I like this idea... Because, the theif may even sell it to someone who doesn't know that it was stolen. It would be nice if Apple kept a list of stolen serial numbers to stop this maddness. We need help, we feel violated.

Perfectly stated. Apple can but won't because they would rather you go out and buy another ipad! I personally think having the ability to track down a stolen ipad, makes it more marketable vs. another tablet. Mine was just lost in Sears and someone definitely scrapped it up. The lost mode isn't working because it's currently not connected to the internet. As soon as the person gets a power cord for it all they have to do is reset it and my passcode with be swiped off. Apple SHOULD raise a red flag when this person registers to the stolen serial number reported... but like I said, they won't. So i'm with you on this.
