I have a mini-dvi to dvi adapter and I want to use it on my 27" samsung screen. The screen has VGA and I used a dvi to vga adapter too. My macbook doesn't see the screen. Is this because of the DVI to VGA adapter? If so I just buy a mini-dvi to vga adapter.

The Mini-DVI to DVI adapter does not pass through the analog video needed for VGA, so the DVI to VGA adapter can't work. You need a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter.
