my phone was working fine then my husband came and put it on the bench when i went to grab it and check if there was any messages the screen was black and nwo wont turn on just vibrates when put on charge but nothing else screen stays black?

Perform a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone should restart. It could take up to 20 seconds of holding the buttons for this to work. It will have no affect on your data.

nothing, thats the thing, its not doing anythig at all. its just black i push any button and it stays black but when i plug into computer and hold the home button my computer recognises it but still nothign happens with the phone.
ill try the reset again in half hour.
I was having the exact same issue, came out of no where, couldn't find much on the topic...screen would go grainy, fade to colors, go white...ended up having a faulty/dead LED screen...just an unlocking phone pick I guess. Didn't have my iphone for even a month..replaced it for free! works great now, hopefully it stays that way!

I think Im having the same issue as you. My phone is completely off, black screen and wont turn on. When its plugged into the charger it vibrates twice every 10 seconds or so. Is this what you were experiencing? If so, how did you go about fixing the screen? Bring it to Apple? Third party?

If the screen stays black, how are you sure the phone is in recovery mode? Did you get a message on iTunes when you connected the device?
You log into the computer at www.icloud.com and remove your device from your iCloud account. That will disable Find My iPhone. The information in the beginning of this support document will help you with that information. If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support then restore.
yes i got a message on itunes saying this ipone is in recovery mode please reset settings. which i did but nothing.. still black screen and nothing
Yeah I have the same problem too. I was using my 4S and it was working just like normal until I turned off the phone for the night with 80% battery. Now when I try to turn it on, the phone doesn't tun on, but it only vibrates. How could is be an LCD issue if it was working just perfectly fine yesterday? Does anyone know?

thanks, it just come up on itunes to set up my new iphone. and now if i push the vibrate switch it vibrates as before it didnt. but screen is still black and motionless. will try another reset later.

thanks for that, ive tried the holding power and hoem screen but nothign screen just stays black and now am in the process of trying the reset through itunes and recovery mode? hopefully that works. if not??
im assuming i would have to take it to my local phone provider store to get them to send it off to be repaired? im in australia so have no idea where iwould have to take it or am i able to just take it to an apple store and they can fix it?
