printing FILE NAME and DATE PRINTED?

when i was on a mac i used to be able to have a default in the printer dialog so that every page printed showed the file name and the data printed. i would like to do this in the mac but i am guessing that this has to be done in either the specialized software dialog box or perhaps in a mac dialog box?

in any event, can anyone help me figure out where i might find a place to do this? i haveadobe acrobat but i wold also like to do it in something like Preview as well.

TIA

There is no option in Acrobat to do this. Nor does the standard print dialog offer it for Preview. I also could not find a setting within CUPS to perform this.

There are print drivers that support this and there are also some machines that can do this, although they typically print the information on a preceeding page.

So you may have to rely on third party software to achieve this.

hi. i want to assume that you did not take this as what was meant. i of course meant that it would be helpful to get your - or others' - input on actual usage. this should be clear in that i was explaining that i rarely find directions to read the help menu to be of any use unless someone can point to a specific passage that i may have overlooked.

what i meant of course is that this is a /forum/ and that i find talking to people on the forum to be of most benefit which is why i am posting.

anyway, please accept my apologies if i offended you in any way!
