iPad "Sound Effects" control disappeared iPad 2 ios 6.1.3

I have the same problem with my IPAD 2 ant try everything you suggested guys...why apple dont take responsibilaty for this failure ?

Ive been having the same issue now for a couple months on an iPad2. At first the sound disappeard completely. In the last couple weeks the sound has been coming back intermittently - sometimes for just a few seconds, sometimes for as much as an hour - then it will quit. I've tried both reinstalling and cleaning the port as best as I can. There does not seem to be any consistancy with the operation of the sound. Sometimes it works, sometimes not at all.

I'm This issue seems to have sprung around the same time for eveyone, which leads me to belive it's a software thing. But a dirty or damaged dock port also makes sense.

very dissapopinted that Apple has not addressed this - even in this forum - not a word. Does Apple not monitor it's own boards?

It seems that it is bug issue, I check it also with ios7.

My sound control disappear in the middle of using it.

I don't think it is hardware issue since it appears once again for a while and disappear once again.

I think Apple need to fix t since it is very common problem that customer are facing with.

The problem is that Apple focus on selling product and not with support and fixing problem.

I don't believe that someone from apple read this, so we need to help each other

Hi i found something that might sound bizarre but it worked..

Go to settings > Sound and then on the top change the sound level so you can hear your alarm sound then use the side sound buttons to change the sound level then just let the ipad go to lock the screen by it self with out doing anything ...that means just wait.....and here comes the magic open unlock and enjoy your sound back.

Had this problem after reset. Sound but no sound control icon. Go to "Sounds" and at top you'll see "Change with Buttons". Turn button to ON. Sound icon will return, although it is different than previous.

Thanks I saw this solution on another thread and didn't try it, bc it sounded crazy, so after seeing your post I used a can of air to blow out the port and sound came right back. Lol

I had the exact same problem and it almost sent me mad.

Trawling through the net I found that the sound had gone because the ipad thought it was in a docking station. This is because of microfibres of crud that sat in the docking port where you normal plug the ipad in to charge. This sounds mad but it worked. I used a needle to clean the dust out of the area and the sound came back straight away.

Guys this is the only solution to this problem. Just clean the area with a tissue where you plug in your charger and your sound will be back.
