Logic is getting progressively more unstable, now crashing at least once a night.

Looks like memory leaks, although I don't know jack about the syntax below. It didn't used to do this until the last couple months. It seems to be getting worse. :/ Any thoughts about what is happening here?

Profiling a hang?

It's a hang log file: Console > System Diagnostic Reports > Logic Pro... .hang

As a layperson, I've always considered a permanent hang to be more or less a crashing of the application. But I understand in trying to resolve this, there must be a difference.

Yes, you can get hang logs from there if the OS detects the hang and generates it. If not you need to manually profile the process using the activity monitor (select the process and click on analyze process in the toolbar). Hang resports are much harder to read because they don't really tell you where it went wrong.

Is there a way to view the currently installed version number?

I'm surprised it isn't at least saying these are the same version.

I'm hesitant to go backwards. Will the Updater then see this is out of date and offer me an update?

Sorry, don't install this, I gave you the wrong version link. It seems 7.0 is the latest version you can download manually. I'll try to find out how you can (re)install a newer version on a 10.8.3 system.

It seems there is no other way to install the prokit 7.x update without using the system updater service. I'm not sure if it's possible to install 7.0 over it. If it is then the updater should automatically take you to 7.3.2. It looks like the only safe way to reinstall the prokit is to reinstall the OS. Sorry for the bad news.

Ok, sorry to butt-in but there's been various threads on this forum with similar errors that point to the prokit framework, however, just as in the link you posted the only downloadable version will not install as it reports a newer version is already installed.

Are you saying that the latest prokit version is causing the errors? is this a bug in prokit?

(I must not be well, I love threads like this) :-)

I cannot tell if there's a bug in prokit or if it's just a common installation problem. The errors seem to affect only very few systems, and with the small number of hardware variations on the mac platform that hints towards some sort of corruption. A broken installation/update script could cause this, or a 3rd party program that messes with some system components.

That said, my music production machine still runs on 10.6.8, so I cannot really speak from experience.

I really appreciate the depth of your feedback at the very least. I qualify as a power user, always pushing the limites of my Mac. There's probably a plethora of 3rd party installs that could potentially cause a conflict, but nothing comes to mind that would mess with the prokit, other than problematic plugins.

U-he states "The Diva reference are the threads we're using for multicore support. The error/exception in the boost library is the normal state of them sitting idle."

I definitely see some overlap in the sections leading up to things going to ****, but the final symptoms are different. These do appear to be related.

I've also had recent issues with Logic crashing sometimes when I open plugin windows while the song is playing. I started a ticket with Waves who, upon investigating my logs, etc, stated that there is "a known issue that started with the latest OSX update, and has to do with NVIDIA graphic adapters, and recent changes to OpenGL." That error didn't resemble this one at all, but these problems do seem to have started after the 10.8.3 update.
