iweb version 3.0.4

Hi, i hope someone here will be able to help me as im about 5 second from kicking my Mac all over the garden 😁

I have built a site in iweb, version 3.0.4, ive published the site to an FTP via fetch. When i open the FTP i see a file called .ftpquote, index.html and my website folder.

for some reason, when i click the visit published site button i get an error, (the requested URL/Sentido/index.html was not found on this server.

I have uploaded this site via googledrive and everything works fine, but i need to get this into a talktalk FTP account.

Ive contacted the company who my friend purchaced her domain name from and they assure me the domain is pointing at the correct IP address.

If anyone out there can help me i would be VERY greatful

Thanks in advance for any help, this is the first site ive ever built so know very little about how things work.

Ive trawled forums and sites for weeks trying to sort this

Once published to a folder, iWeb's job is done.

When you start moving files around, via Google Drive(?), then even iWeb looses track.

iWeb is not clairvoyant and simply opens the browser with the URL you provide.

And I doubt that /Sentido/index.html is the url of your website.

Can't you type the URL yourself?

What happens if you only type the domainname in the address field of the browser.

And why not use iWeb's FTP and eliminate errors on your part?

Hi and thanks for the reply.

No, that isnt the URL of my website, thats just the error message that pops up.

Ive deleted everything from googledrive, it was just so i could test the site and let my friend view it online while i was waiting for the ftp space to be set up (talktalk were an absolute joke trying to set that up)

Ive now publised the sit to the correct FTP and everything is appearing in the FTP as it should........ i just cant view the site once i type my domain in my browser, or via the 'visit published site' button, i just keep getting the above error and i cant work out why.

I hope im making sense 😁, like i said before, im very new at all this

Thanks again

Just got of the phone with the domain provider, all along they have been insisting that they NEED the IP address, now they are insisting that its talk talks problem and not theirs. They were telling me that talk talk needed to set up a redirecting service, however, i talked him into trying the `URL i posted above and he eventually admitted he could set it up from his end. This has been going on for 2 weeks with these people, probably because they want to sell me a hosting package.

Anyway, he said it should be working within 24 hrs, ill let you know how i get on.

Thanks so much for your advice

They have set up simple forwarding, which bounces you on to the actual site in the way you see.

The alternative - if they provide it - is forwarding with 'cloaking', 'framing' or 'masking' (all the same thing) which keeps just the domain name in the address bar as you navigate the site - this means you can't bookmark specific pages.

Incidentally the URL is without the 'www' as you have given it above.
