icloud notes not syncing

This is a weird one, any note created on my imac appears on my iphone and ipad through icloud

But any note created on my ipad or iphone doesn't appear on my imac.

Have searched for this particularly icloud issue, but couldn't find out which device i need to work on or what the workaround is

Thanks for any help!

I am still having this problem with Notes and iMessage. I have tried the multiple suggestions here and it has not helped. In iMessage, I added my new phone number, which synced one contact but the rest have not. Recently, my phone number and service changed to international service, which I thought would be part of the problem but iMessage was synced with my yahoo account before. One of the main reasons I use Apple products is for the ease of having all of my devices working together. This was not the case with before the latest update. Not sure where the problem lies, but I would LOVE to fix it.

Anyone else have suggestions?

That may be the solution for sure. Will look for your status update since then. As everything else everyone is posting does not apply

iDevices, go to Settings > Notes > Default Account.

(already in play on both iPhone and iPad so does not pertain to my issues)

I have a new iPhone 6. Realized NOTES weren't syncing with my MAC. Here's what I did to fix it. On the iPhone 6 I went to settings/iCloud and turn off NOTES. Turn the phone all the way off. Turn the phone on. Check NOTES. None there. That's good. They were all suppose to be stored in iCloud. Go to settings/iCloud and turn on NOTES. Wait a few minutes. Go to notes on the phone and NOTES are now synced and updating changes to MAC and other devices. Hope this helps. Apple has hiccups when you change phones, devices ect.

(did this and did not work mitigate Macbook issue still showing a random Dec 2nd date of last update and missing other dates in between... again my iPhone and iPad are synced just fine it's Macbook that is not getting there no matter how many times I close open and visit iCloud accounts in system preferences)

I am reluctant to update to El Capitan as I am a Freelancer and use my Macbook for persona and work and I received several emails from IT Directors at different companies asking us to hold off on El Capitan as it is creating issues interfacing and they (IT Directors) are not really in position to work on Freelancers computer but I found it odd to get emails from different companies having issues with El Capitan and these are Mac based companies first and PC's secondary. Will see how this worked for you and if it's worth it or if I should simply back-up iPhone and iPad to Macbook

it's really quite crazy..

this thread has been ongoing since 2013. infact if you search, there are people requesting for help since 2011..

so ridiculous that till this day apple hasn't given one sure way to solve this.

with the new upgrade apple did for Notes, it's like what's the point when it doesnt work well.

i've also tried many suggestion here and can't get it to work.

turning off iCloud then on doesn't help, because with the existing notes, it will prompt you that if you sign off, they will delete all notes stored in icloud.

Apple please respond!

calling the help centre will be dreadful. yes, you meet really nice people on the line, who are really willing to help.. but it will very likely take you minimally 30minutes for them to troubleshoot for you.. and i've encountered 2hours before.

that's abit too much honestly.

HERES A WORKAROUND - by no means ideal or what should happen, but it'll get your notes from your computer to your phone...just not in the Notes app.

I have an iPhone 6S, and I am running Yosemite still on my MacBook Pro, haven't upgraded to El Capitan, with the same problem. All notes on my iPhone sync to iCloud online, but there seems to be no communication between my Mac and iCloud online and also not to my phone. Some things I noticed that others might be able to use to solve this:

1) When I enabled Notes (not Mail) in iCloud on my Mac, it forced me to create an icloud email address. My AppleID is not an icloud email address, but now I also have this new iCloud email address.

2) In digging around with this, and noting (sorry) the way the Gmail does it, I found that my icloud.com email address automatically creates an invisible folder called - you guess it - Notes, where it stores the notes created on my Mac. I can access that folder (with the notes created on my Mac) in Mail on my iPhone if I set up the iCloud email account there - BUT ONLY IF NOTES IN THE ICLOUD SETTINGS IS TURNED OFF ON MY PHONE, BUT TURNED ON ON MY COMPUTER. If I turn Notes on on my phone, the folder becomes invisible again, and I can't access anything except on my computer.

3) This suggests to me that when Notes is turned on, the icloud.com email address assigns that Notes folder to the Notes app...but there is some sync issue there, and I think Apple is the one that needs to fix that...unless someone has some other ideas.

In the short term, I'll leave iCloud Notes on my phone OFF, while iCloud Notes on my computer are ON, and I'll access them through the icloud.com email address. A hassle, but the only workaround I've found...

Oh...and I still can't get my icloud notes from my phone to my computer - I have to create them in one of my other email addresses (Gmail, e.g.), and those I can find on my computer.

But I also can't move the notes in "On my iPhone" to anything other than iCloud...which I off for the sake of getting notes to my phone from my computer.

So. dang it.

I'm now on el capitan and i found I needed to also do the following.

1. Go to system preferences then iCloud and uncheck notes.

2. Log out of the system.

3. Log back in.

4. Repeat step 1 except check notes.

5. Open notes.

All of my notes from my phone then appeared. I dunno why this has to brake all the time. Oh and the default account dialogue is no longer present. It's now for siri alone. This on iOs 9. The following screenshot shows the prefference under settings, notes on ios 9. Here, you can see the title of the option to which I refer. User uploaded file

All. I had the same issue recently with my iPhone5s. The easiest way to accomplish moving old notes (notes you took prior to turning Notes sync on your device), is to create a new folder on your device (in my case, iphone 5S). Once you do this, iCloud thinks they are all new notes and will create the same folder in iCloud. I called this folder "old notes".

This is much better than recreating each and every note manually. Forget that!

Good luck.

I had this problem too -

In Notes on the iPhone, back out with the left arrow in the upper left until you see "Folders"

These are the various places your notes are located...

Click one of the location folders.

Click "Edit"

"Move All" will appear in the lower left corner. Do it -

move them all to whichever account you sync to on your phone.

There is an "On My Phone" location folder. Nothing that's in there will sync anywhere -

until you move it to an active, connected location folder.

This is really frustrating. I've tried all the solutions suggested in this forum multiple times but nothing worked. As someone mentioned above, there were people asking for help on this problem since years ago but Apple is not giving us any answer on this. I personally am suffering from this problem since too long and i think i should just give up and use other notes applications. I'm not sure if Apple is even aware of this issue at all.
