My iPhone 5c is also stuck in Searching.. Mode.

Though I already tried everything possible-

  • Factory Reset
  • Reset through DFU Mode
  • Airplane Mode
  • Date And Time

I'm Able To see my IMEI No. but cannot see carrier options. When I resetted it Through DFU mode then it was working till 15-20 mins then it started showing NO serivce and sooner it got stuck on searching mode. By trying all the Methods I think my Phone is Suffering from hardware issues that can be cured in an apple store only.So ill get it checked at an apple before it gets into the hands of Dealth. If you can´t do this is a hardware problem !

Apple said that is an Hardware problem ...

I have the same problem. Sprint is my provider. They had me reset network. I could only connect to my wireless at home but once out of the house, phone is back to Searching mode. I couldn`t even get calls or make calls, text or receive ..no service at all. Apple had me reset completely. Same problem. Tried this 3 times today. Still in searching. Apple has now scedule me to return my phone to Apple store (1 1/2 hrs from my home) and get a replacement phone but only after making an appt with the store. They say its a hard ware problem.

Hi, I have been using my IPhone 5s which I bought around 3 to 4 months ago, and it has been working perfectly. I am outside of the country right now, and I have T-Mobile, which gives me coverage around the world.

I have been using my phone outside US perfectly it always had signal and stuff. Yesterday I connected my phone to my laptop and backed up my pictures, and a blue screen appeared in my phone and then it just restarted, after that it turned on by itself and had cellular network, but it wouldn't connect to 3G. The problem continued for around 4 hours when the phone just didn't get any more cellular network, its just says "Searching..." or "No Service". Today when I woke up the phone had cellular network and it was connected to 3G, I used the phone for around an hour and a half when it went back to having no network.

I don't know if anyone knows what could be happening, but because I am not in US I can't go to an apple store to try to get it fixed.

Thank you.

Hi guys,

After doing the last upgrade my phone went into "searching..." Mode. Under this mode I couldnt make phone calls or send text mesages. I read all the other forum answers and tried restarting, turning airplane mode on, resetting my network problems (etc). The only thing that worked for me was plugging my phone into iTunes, and doing a full factory reset and restoring my personal information and such from iCloud. Itunes should automatically pull up the "Restore" "Reset" option for you if there is a software issue. the process took me roughly 35 minutes to figure out completely. As long as u u I ow yo your Apple ID and password, you can factory reset your phone and then redownload everything from your last Icloud backup. do not attempt of you cant sign into itunes prior to factory resetting. This is what worked for me after everything else failed. It is easy. Check iTunes. Factory wipe the phone. Plug in your iPhone. Verify again your Apple ID by signing in (it will ask when the iPhone pops up as unidentifisble). After that iTunes will give you the option to restore and reset. If the option is not automatically brought up when the phone (which the computer mayb not recognize) then look for the option on your phone after the initial "welcome" menu is pulled up. Your phone may ask whether or not you want to restore from iCloud or set the resettled phone as an entirely new device. Always say restore with iCloud. keep your phone plugged in during the process and don't unplug it until your phone is done resetting and restoring. Good luck!

Hi,
So i've recently had this problem on my phone and ive recently managed to make it work!

I had the same issue of my 5c saying 'searching' with or without the sim card in.

I firstly tried the factory reset method and the phone got stuck on the reset mode giving me an error message during the reset (about 60% of the way through) I kept trying and it finally worked and when the phone turned on i finally had signal!! for about 5 minutes.

I then decided to open the phone and gave the inside a good clean, I only removed the bottom 2 screws and picked the screen up and used compressed air and my lungs to ensure there was no dust on any of the connections.

I then repeated the factory reset method and again my phone got stuck in the reset mode giving an error message every time I tried to reset. perseverance paid off and on the second day of trying to get through the factory reset it finally worked and since then ive had signal.
LONG STORY SHORT- clean the inside of the phone!!!

There is the only one solution. You need to do "DFU Restore"

To do it,

  1. Backup your iphone (if you turn iCloud on, you can skip this step)
  2. Run iTunes on your computer.
  3. Plug your device into your computer
  4. Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds.
  5. Release the Power button but keep holding the Home button.
  6. After about 15 seconds you will be alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode.
  7. Release Home button
  8. Click Restore in iTunes.

Hi.

I tried many things from this post

  • Go to airplane mode for some minutes
  • Fix the date and time
  • Reboot

Nothing fixed the problem I had.

But I managed to fix the problem with this:

One thing I noticed when I went to Settings is that I didn't have the Carrier option. I didn't either have the IMEI info in the About section. I thought this had something to do with my SIM card.

So, I turned off my iPhone, took out the SIM card and put it in an old iPhone that I was not using. I turned on the old iPhone with the SIM card inside and the old iPhone asked me to unlock my SIM, asking for its password (something that didn't happen in my current iPhone even if I rebooted the phone). So, I put the SIM password and the old iPhone did get a cellphone signal, 3G signal and started working fine. At this point I had probably "re-unlocked" the SIM card, I guess.

So, I turned off the old iPhone, took out the SIM card and put it on my current iPhone. Then turned on the phone. The phone said "SIM locked" but didn't ask me for its password. I waited a few seconds and the phone was displaying "No service" (which was different from the previous "Searching" message). I went to Settings and I noticed that the Carrier option was now there, so I selected the Carrier option and then the phone let me choose the carrier for my SIM card 🙂 .

I hope this helps someone out there with the "Searching" problem.

Long story short: take out your SIM card, put it in another iPhone, unlock the SIM card and then put it back to your iPhone. Go to settings and select your carrier.
