If the song has been downloaded and you want to remove it you just need to swipe your finger from right hand side across towards the left and a red delete button should appear.
Thanks.. I tried all that (delete from Settings/Usage multiple times, change sync options in iTunes, disconnect from iCloud, waiting, restarting...) and I still have phantom music on the iPad that I can't get rid of (Usage goes back to 10G and the Music app lists loads of "Unknown" title, artist etc).
The iPad has been synced with other PCs in the past, I am afraid this is where the problem comes from.
For large amounts of data this might take a bit,
I had 40 Gb of music to delete, when I tried to check immediately after pressing delete everything was still there and then nothing happened, I repeated the attempt and left the ipad sitting there, the music was gone two minutes later.
Hope this helps
Thanks. Very helpful. I never would have figured it out.
Here is the only thing that worked for me in the end:
I am on Windows 7 and I used http://www.imobie.com/phonebrowse/
Worked perfectly, I finally got rid of 7.5G of phantom music...
I have a question to follow on from this....
I have deleted all my music off my IPad successfully, No Data currently shows.
I now want to delete the library on the IPad that is empty.
I am using home sharing, and at the moment everytime I open the music app or leave it idle it goes by default to the IPad library with no data instead of the shared library that I want to use.
Any help would be great!
Thanks so much
Hi, friends. If you want to completely delete those songs, I recommend you a software - iPhone Data Eraser. It's designed to erase data completely from iPhone/iPad/iPod. You can use it to delete music from iPad.
Step 1.Install iPhone Data Eraser on the computer and connect iPad with computer.
Step 2.Choose "Erase All Data on Device" on the list.
Step 3.Delete music on iPad. "Medium" level is the most common choice. Click "Start" to erase.
You also see what you have to do is very simple. Have a try!
Thanks for tutorial, I may to advice some new ways for removing:
I had over 4,000 songs on my IPad 2 and just remove them. One easy way to remove all music from your library and make memory room is go to settings > Storage and Icloud usage > from there you have the option I chose Storage > Manage storage > select the music icon > and it removed the music from my device but not from my Icloud. I hope this can help any one.
