When I take pictures in my iPad and then email them to my friends, they look small and lousy - nothing like what I see when viewing on my iPad - please help. Thanks. Roger.

When you begin to compose the email - tap on the word Images next to your email address in the From: field.
A line will pop up allowing you to select the image size - small, medium, large and actual size. See what size you are sending the photo in and change it if you want.
Thanks Mate but sorry, that doesn't happen on my iPad. I do get a similar function / option on my iPhone but nothing like that on my iPad.
Any other thoughts ?

When the New Message pops up in Photos tap where it says "Images xxx KB" beside the Cc/Bcc, From field to expand the header. You should now see the Image sizes available.
This is what you should see. Cc/bcc, From: and Images and the size is to the right. Tap on Images to expand to the bar that I posted in my screenshot above.
Thanks, but unfortunately that's exactly what I'm missing. On my iPhone I get that option, but not on my iPad and I can't find and setting that I can change to make it any different. Any other suggestions please?
Which camera were they taken with on the iPad ? The front facing camera is lower resolution and (on my iPad 3) don't give the image size option when emailing them as they are already small - it's only for larger images (e.g. those taken with the back camera or synced from my computer) that I get the option to resize them and send a smaller version of them.

Which camera were the pictures taken with ? The one on the front of the iPad is lower resolution and only produces small images, so there is no need to give the resize option.
I'm 99% sure all my pictures have been taken with the camera on the back (non-glass) side - any other thoughts ?
Post the exact steps you're using, from taking the picture all the way through attaching the photo to your email. It's possible that it's your workflow that's causing the issue.
If your friends have apple devices try sending the photos using iMessage.
