When I press the Volume Up button it opens up Dashboard?

See what happens when you hold the "fn" key and then press the volume keys.

Hi, Got to system preferences, select keyboard. Uncheck -Use all F1,F2, etc....option in the first tab(keyboard) and it will fix it.

Yes I did reboot.

And yes I can still adjust the sound on the menu bar.

I also noticed that there is an eject symbol on my menubar which wasn't always there.

And I don't really think it belongs there since I have a Macbook Air and thus no CD/DVD reader.

+volume control keys on the noName bluetooth keyboard work.

on that one the control keys are in no relation to the f-Keys

Any other Idea what the Problem or maybe even the solution might be?

in sys/prefs/mission control. change "show dashboard" to - or any other "f " key.

just noticed you are using snow leopard so you wont have mission control sorry, disregard.

Well I Am Using Mavericks,
But changing that just makes my volume key "beep" and doing nothing.

I want my volume control back :'(

are you able to adjust your volume using volume control in the menu bar, or is that not working also?

also for changes to take effect in mission control you have to reboot. have you rebooted?

i can help you with the icon just drag it off the menu bar while holding the cmd key.

sadly, the sound problem, i am unable to. hopefully somebody here can throw light on it for you.

Also, in system prefs/mission control are shortcut keys, check those and make sure no F keys are volume(F10-12), change if they are
