Bose AE2w Bluetooth headphones won't connect with MacBook Pro

New Bose Bluetooth headphone (AE2w) connect with iPod Nano & iPad but not with MacBook Pro. Is there a software upgrade/solution?

I have found the same issue: connects easily to iOS devices, much more difficult to OSX devices. I did eventually get the headphones to work on both the MB Air and Mac Pro by repeatedly pairing the headphones. Make sure that the volume is set to max on your macbook pro & itunes and check that the stereo phones (not mono) are being used in the sounds control panel. There definitely seems to be an issue though - I just haven't had a chance to contact Bose.

On my Macbook Air with Mavericks, this is what works for me:

{

"Apple Bitpool Max (editable)" = 64;

"Apple Bitpool Min (editable)" = 45;

"Apple Initial Bitpool (editable)" = 35;

"Apple Initial Bitpool Min (editable)" = 53;

"Negotiated Bitpool" = 45;

"Negotiated Bitpool Max" = 53;

"Negotiated Bitpool Min" = 45;

"Stream - Flush Ring on Packet Drop (editable)" = 0;

"Stream - Max Outstanding Packets (editable)" = 30;

"Stream Resume Delay" = "0.75";

}

I hope this helps (someone).

I've had these headphones with an iMac 27-inch 2010 and they've always stuttered and randomly disconnected during audio.

I solved the problem by first going to this page: http://worldwide.bose.com/downloads/en/web/bose_bluetooth_headphones_system_down loads/page.html

Installed the firmware upgrade onto the headphones themselves.

Then I opened Terminal and inputted this code that Andrew Miller1 contributed:

defaults write com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent "Apple Bitpool Max (editable)" 64

defaults write com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent "Apple Bitpool Min (editable)" 45

defaults write com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent "Apple Initial Bitpool (editable)" 35

defaults write com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent "Apple Initial Bitpool Min (editable)" 53

defaults write com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent "Negotiated Bitpool" 45

defaults write com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent "Negotiated Bitpool Max" 53

defaults write com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent "Negotiated Bitpool Min" 45

defaults write com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent "Stream - Flush Ring on Packet Drop (editable)" 0

defaults write com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent "Stream - Max Outstanding Packets (editable)" 30

defaults write com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent "Stream Resume Delay" "0.75"

Worked like a charm, still some slight stutter however so I might change the top two numbers to '50' - there was a suggestion that the audio stutters when the Bitpool fluctuates.

Hope it works.

They do seem to be working a bit better with Yosemite. Be warned though; the same bluetooth hardware fault that reduces the range and signal quality with audio headphones will reduce the effectiveness of the upcoming 'continuity' features too. The only good thing is that it will force apple to fix/improve the software/firmware side of things.

Up until about the last week or two, cannot pinpoint the exact date, I had two bluetooth speaker devices that were working just fine on my iMac. All of a sudden my devices would no longer connect successfully. After deleting them, bluetooth did not even find the devices to offer pairing. Found the solution in my case was simple. Found online a recommendation that you must unplug all usb devices (remember you'll still need your mouse to do next step) and then Shut Down your computer for at least two minutes.

Once I restarted my bluetooth is now recognizing my devices and pairing. Thinking this had to have been brought on by a software update.

Anyways, I was highly annoyed... but this fixed my issue! Good Luck.

Just bought my Bose over the ear headphones. Work great on IPAD IPAD IPHONE. Was excited to use on my MAC BOOK PRO and find out as most of the replies on here that the headphones are not compatible with MAC BOOK PRO. Well that was 250 bucks not well spent. The main reason I got them was to use them with my MAC. Come on Bose or Apple......fix it!! 🙂
