Upgrading my late 2008 Macbook to SSD- worth it?

Hello everyone,

I'm thinking of upgrading my late 2008, 2ghz aluminium Macbook 5,1 to SSD. My current 160 GB HD is full and I'm finding it a bit sluggish, particuarly when editing high resultion images.

At the moment I've got 4GB of ram (the offical maximum) and I get bootup times of a little over a minute, so not lightening fast but not terrible. Problems start when running several intensive applications at the same time. This is something I do often so speed is important.

My Macbook is now five years old, but still working perfectly running snow leapard. I have no desire to spend money on a newer model, as my current one is still going stong, but I don't want to waste money buying a £140 SSD if my machine is unlikly to last long.

What do you think? Is it worth it? How significant would the imrovment be?

Any advice much aprecated.

Many thanks
