pc restarts if ipod AND modem plugged in

hi, whenever i connect my ipod and my modem into my pc, the computer either restarts or crashes. And i can only connect my ipod if the modem is out, this isnt a huge problem but is inconvenient. I have tried reinstalling and rebooting the computer which hasnt worked, and tried to plug into different usb ports which wont help either. I want both to work so that i can charge my ipod at the same time i am on the web and so that i can add album art quicker.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanx in advance

I think it might be a continuation. I had my computer completely reinstalled at a shop. on my old computer, both my ipod and my modem worked fine together, and on that computer , it was the slow speed USB ports, on this computer i have the faster one.
The modem is a BT voyager 105 provided by AOL
Now i dont get a blue screen but the computer just restarts the first time and the next times it crashes. When i first plug the ipod in , it says do not disconnect, and when the computer crashes, it just goes back to the menu.
My computer works fine when i use my modem, scanner and printer together. I doubt its the ipod because this is a brand new ipod video, and the same problem happened to my ipod colour(which is why a bought a new video ipod, and wasted money!)
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

hi Mumith!

hmmmm. if they completely refurbished your PC at the shop, they would probably have done a Windows reinstall or repair. that should have fixed the corrupt system file that toonz identified the last time we tried doing this.

(sigh) okay, let's see if we can pick up any hidden blue screens again. (it's quite possible that the System recovery settings were changed back to their defaults when the PC was refitted.) so let's try the same technique we tried last time.

1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).

2) Select the "Advanced" tab.

3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button

4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

then let's try generating the Windows restart again to see if we pick up a blue screen this time.

no, sorry, no message on the black screen.
I remember the guy at the shop said something about buying a usb port which charges the device?????
No idea what that means, but he said since my ipod and the modem both dracharge from them , it causes it to not work, or crash.
I doubt it because it worked fine on this computer before.

Hi B noir
I have finally received a blue screen and this is what it say:

unadequate disk space, if driver identified in stop message, disable driver or check with manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapter.
Technical information:
* stop 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0xf22e3eb4, 0xf 13b0aa4, 0x00000000)

*naiavf.sys - address f22e3eb4 base at f22d6000, datestamp 42ae0eb6.

I have absolutely no idea what this means, can anyone help?

hi Mumith!

lordy ... okay, so it's a different one from last time.

just checking on something that has been related to 0x8E crashes when connecting ipods lately: do you have a version of Spyware Doctor installed on that PC?

is your PC still configured to collect minidumps? if so, can you possibly send a copy of the minidump for this blue screen to the following address? (the address has changed since the last time we did this.)

send it to this email address

(i did some searching on that "naiavf.sys" driver, but couldn't find a reference to it. i'm hoping my reinforcements might have better luck tracking down a reference.)

love, b
