Can't find POWERin the system profiler!

Iseemto be having some sudden battery issues and in reading some of theposts they recommend going to the system profiler and looking at the POWER reading...but my system profiler does not show POWER as a heading. I did: about this mac>more info>hardware, but there just ain't no power listed there! I chose extended report....nothing. I downloaded a couple fo freeware apps that were recommended in the discussions and find that my battery has cycled 342 times, and that the temperature on my laptop is just dandy. But suddently, my pb is not charging as it should; it is very slow to recharge and doesn't seem to hold it through sleep (when I close the case). Is it possible it is not sleeping when I close it? Well, any help would be appreciated, as always!

Ok this is starting to freak me out a little! I reset the PRAM and NVRAM following the instructions, and then reset the Power Manager. I had to reset the date and time so I know I affected something! Still no POWER heading in the system profiler. So I thought maybe after doing those things I should once again trash the preferences as above...now that file doesn't exist at all!! Shouldn't it rebuild as soon as I restart the computer?
By the way, I reset the PMU by turning off the computer, removing the battery and power supply, then holding down the start button for 5 seconds, then replacing the battery and booting up. That's correct, yes?
Thanks,
Debbie
