iPod touch locked on reset screen

I just reset my iPod (1st generation touch) after finding it for about a year and wanting to start fresh with some new music. After resetting it using iTunes and installing the latest OS (5.1.1), I unplugged it to then get set-up, but I can't operate the slider bar at the bottom of the screen.

There is a lock apparent on the top status bar of the phone, so I'm thinking the iPod is stuck on screen lock.

I'm not certain if the screen is broken or if the slider isn't responding because of the lock.

I have not idea how I was able to take the screenshot below, but this is where my iPod is stuck.

Actually it is a 3rd generation, as it is 64 gb.

Then iOS 5.1.1 is as far as it will go.

Perform a Reset... Try again...

Reset ( No Data will be Lost )

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

If no joy...
