FaceTime connectivity iPad to iMac

I have a specific contact that when he tries to FaceTime me on my iMac with his iPad, my FaceTime, once I accept his call, just continues to say connecting... . If I return his FaceTime call, immediately we connect. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

if it's the same appleID in both ends then I dont believe it works

One can only guess, but it sounds like a firewall at his end is involved.
