Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

theres no wifi icon on my macbook unibody late 2008 os x 10.7.3

Also when I open airport utility, it show 'Airport utility was unable to find any airport wireless devices. Make sure the airport wireless device you want to set up is plugged in and in range of your computer, and then click rescan to try again.'

When I go to system preferences> network...there is no wifi connection service, Even if I ADD ➕ service , Wi-Fi is not on the list..only ethernet & bluetooth..

When I go to Airport Utility:

Even if I rescan it , it was unable to find any airport wireless devices. My question is how can I check if there's an airport card on my macbook?

This is a second hand macbook, that is why I don't know if there's a airport card installed to this macbook..Please help...

I only connect to wifi using a usb wifi dongle...

Hello Team,

Macbook Model: 13-inch, Mid 2009

I have been impacted by this same issue of late. About 3 times over the same span of months, I have been logging in or resuming sessions only to find I have only a few (including spotlight) icons available on the mac taskbar. There is no wifi, nor battery - or the other icons I use such as VPN and bluetooth.

These issues seem to show after I attempt to restore the system from a sleep state (IE Open the lid).

I checked DMESG logs, and found issues reading SMC states. For example;

SMC::smcInitHelper ERROR: smcPublishLightshowVersion failed (kSMCKeyNotFound)

And tonnes more. smcReadData8 failed for key MOTP, BEMB, B0PS, and B0OS to name a few.

smcReadKeyAction ERROR LsNM kSMCKeyNotFound(0x84) fKeyHashTable=0x0

I haven't had a lot of time to fix the core problem, or further diagnosis. The few steps I have tried include;

SMC Reset

NVRAM Reset (In desperation)

And basic system reboots (Graceful)

All of which seem to complete sucessfully, but do not resolve the issue. Upon login, still issues. The only way I have found to force fix this issue, even temporary, is to login to your system as normal and... force shutdown (Hold the power button till it powers off disgracefully).

Upon login, after these disgraceful shutdowns, the system responds normally.

I have used the 'report' problem each time describing the steps I have taken to resolve this and submit them to apple. Hopefully in a few weeks I will have time to find a more appropriate fix this issue, and post some updates on it soon.

TLDR; Force shutdown your system whilst logged in 'temporary rectifies' this issue.
