iTunes 11.0.3. randomly crashing

Installed iTunes 11.0.3 on a MBP with Snow Leopard yesterday.

Today it keeps randomly crashing. Even if its minimized in the tray.

Thoughts?

Same exact problem. 24" iMac, Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Prior to the 11.0.3 update, my iTunes was rock solid. After the upgrade, iTunes is crashing multiple times a day on a random basis. Most of the time iTunes isn't even running anything when it actually crashes.

Repaired all disc permissions this afternoon and it crashed again tonight. Nothing but iTunes has been compromised. Everything else is running perfectly

As I said earlier, I had the exact same problem. After I repaired dick permissions and downloaded the update once more, it's been working fine -- for the last day and a half, anyway. (Got my fingers crossed!) If you haven't done so already, you might want to try what I did. Good luck!

Then again, doesn't Apple always claim: It just works. Hello?

Nope....Repaired disc permissions for the third time and downloaded the update. iTunes still crashed

Same here. Crashes several times a day even when not actually playing anything.

Running on older Mac Mini and 10.6.8, iTunes 11.0.3

Console log is also filled with hundreds of iTunes related errors, same error every time:

Same here, thougt I was going nuts. Have a 2011 mac mini that serves as the digital hub for 3 Apples TV's among other things, has been rock solid for years, including since the Lion upgrade last summer, then I started noticing iTunes was crashed whenever I came back. Did some checking as I had recorded just after it started doing it and sure enough it was just after the 11.0.3 update, come on Apple, I have 3 Apple TV's that are not nearly as valuable without a Mac to serve them up the media 😢

I've gone back to 11.0 and so far not a single crash in 24 hours.

Luckily I had the .DMG for it as it seems you can't actually directly download iTunes anymore from Apple's Download section. I get to the page with the Download button but when I click that I just get a "Thank you for downloading iTunes" page but no download.

If anyone else needs 11.0 I could make it available via Dropbox.

Couple of things though:

1) The installer for 11.0 won't allow you to install as you have a newer version so you need to manually delete your old version of iTunes in Terminal:

cd /Applications

sudo rm -rf iTunes.app/

2) Then when you install 11.0, it will complain that your library (iTunes Library.itl) cannot be opened because it was created with a newer version of iTunes.

However, in your ~/username/Music/iTunes/Previous iTunes Libraries/ folder, iTunes periodically backs up the database so I was able to just delete the current 'iTunes Library.itl' file and replace it with the most recent backup .itl (just case of copying the backup file and removing the appended date from the file name)
