Why does my iphoto not show pictures when opened?

I recently uploaded pictures from my memory card, which I imported to Picasa.

Now, in iphoto, I do see the album but see this image.

What should I do??User uploaded file

This warning icon is shown, if iPhoto has lost the connection between the photo thumbnails and original image files and can no longer access the photos.

You mentioned that you imported the photos to Picasa. Have you used Picasa to access, move, or modify the photos? Does Picasa still show the photos? If yes, post back and tell us exactly, how you are using Picasa and iPhoto together and what you have done, before the photos were no longer visible.

if you did not move or modify any photos but with iPhoto, the first thing to do would be to rebuild your iPhoto Library: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

or simply to restore it from your most recent backup.

Picasa must have moved or modified the original image files.

Have you tried to rebuild the iPhoto Library? And to repeat Terence Devlin's question - t really would help to lnow the version of iPhoto, since all iPhoto Libraries are different. Look in the Finder - what do you see?

Since Picasa is still seeing you photo files, copy (don't move) them to a folder on your Desktop and reimport them to iPhoto, then delete the event with the broken images.

For the future, it would be best to access the photo files only using iPhoto's built-in methods and not with Picasa, see Terence Devlin's User Tip: How to Access Files in iPhoto

I have a similar question but I wasn't using Picasa. I was transfering my photos to Finder when the system slowed & then my photos disappeared. When I reopened iphoto (very old version 7.1.5) it shows "loading photos" then "rebuilding thumbnail cashes". The events are listed & when you open the event there seems to be the outline of the photo but no picture. I was going to rebuild my library but it says you should backup before rebuilding. There doesn't appear to be anything to backup. I'm not really computer savvy so I would be grateful if someone could help me out here. Thanks

Help!!! Somehow now all my photos have disappeared & iphotos is empty. I tried to do a backup & they just vanished. I did not have much memory left so I was putting the photos onto disc to make more space when everything that was to be done up & left too. Is there a simple way to retrieve them or should I go see an expert?

Why does my iphoto not show pictures when opened?
