Have you already tried using the ascii version (xn--bre-4la.es)?
If that doesn't work, this sounds like a bug which Apple has to fix.
PS This is really a long shot, but if the xn- version is not accepted, see if Mail can be fooled by using versions where the ç is replaced by %E7 or by %C3%A7
After some further experimentation, I think it is clear that iOS Mail has a bug the makes it impossible to set up an email account with an IDN address, even though this is possible in OS X Mail.
One possible work-around is to use the free alternative email app Incredimail, which seems to allow such accounts to be set up (but only for IMAP, not POP). Another would be to keep your IDN at Godaddy, which has a dedicated app for the email accounts which it hosts.
So it's clear apple mail in ipad and iphone doesn't work with idn character adresses, right?

Yes, you cannot set up an account with one.
