i have a customer that is unable to delete old voicmails from his i  phone 5 using sprint service. Also when u call to leave a voicmail on customers phone you can not hear the greeting on known good receiver phone.

Steps i have taken.

I have erased all content and settings and set up as new phone

I have replaced phone and sim card

SET UP NEW PHONE AS NEW, NO RESTORE FROM BACKUP.

reset all and network settings

Spoke with sprint and had them perform a refresh on voicmail

NOTHING HAS WORKED. PLEASE HELP!

Do you know what Sprint meant by "refresh on voicemail"? I would suggest that they need to delete the voicemail from the customers account and then add it back. To the best of my knowledge, no messages should survive that.

GOOD GRIEF!! The world is coming to an end!!!

Kidding aside, yeah, the carriers' general purpose shotgun approach to these issues is blasting away at the client's config on their systems (messages included) and creating anew. A minute of silence for all the fallen bits and bytes....

Trying to figure out what's causing a problem with the voicemail could take days or more, require lots of tier 2 tech support. It's not worth it. Deleting it and adding it back to the account should take about 5 minutes and stands a good chance of fixing it in 5 minutes. If I were the customer, I'd go with the nuke and move on approach. It wouldn't be worth my time for them to try to figure out what went wrong.

Of course, I use Google Voice instead of my carrier's voicemail.
