Is Clean My Mac 2 helpful for speeding up at Macbook Pro?

I've read some reviews of MacKeeper and Clean My Mac products, but am not sure if they are unbiased. Can someone set me straight?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

MacKeeper can damage Mac OS X, so don't install it > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3691 Users complain about it and Zeobit pays users to post good reviews about that app.

Respecting to CleanMyMac, I used it in the past and it worked correctly, but you shouldn't install this type of applications because they can delete a Mac OS X file and you have to reinstall it because you can't start up your MacBook Pro. Furthermore, OS X knows how to take care of itself, so you don't need any cleaning application. If your MacBook is slow, see > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3521

DO NOT BUY OR ALLOW THIS PRODUCT TO HARM YOUR PC

I took on the trial and whilst they had access to my PC (not sure how) I had loads of pops hitting my pc not to mention the emails they kept sending me. On top of this there were internet license issues and warning not allowing me to access google!!!

Apple do a great job of building fantastic systems, protected by firewalls etc etc, this application is a rip off, causes numerous problems on your pc.

I suggest to make an appointment at the Apple store and let the genius guys talk you through how better to use your storage and what solutions & apps are available that don't damage your PC.

Since I deleted the app and removed it from my trash and un-subscribed to emails, my Mac Book Air works great ( just lost lots of excel documents which Apple are helping me to find)

BE CAREFUL.

Hope this helps

Hi,

Seems from your point that you might know a thing or two on Mac apps, so if I understood correctly, avoid Clean my Mac (which an Apple Tech told me was malware). That said, if I'm getting the twirling color circle of "a freeze is coming" what can I do to stop this or avoid it? Clean my MAC seemed to help reduce this and no without it, I have it more and more.

Start a new thread rather than injecting your issue into this 3 year old thread. By starting a new thread you will get more attention and quicker answers. Many community helpers will not even read a 3 year old thread.
