iTunes 11.0.3 unexpected quit - EXC_BAD_ACCESS

Out of the blue, iTunes is quitting unexpectedly.

The application will be open for a while - 2-15mins - and then will quit.

I tried:

rebooting

reinstalling and rebooting

logging out, rebooting

I cannot find anything about how to uninstall and reinstall (since this fixes everything on a PC, figured I'd try it on a Mac)

Apple support indicates that since my Mac mini is out of date they cannot support me; however, this is clearly a software issue.

I am running OS X (10.6.8)

any assistance or ideas would be very much appreciated!

I've given up on 11.0.3. It has been several weeks, and there is no sign of anything happening from Apple. I tried contacting them through various means including this forum and I'm not aware of even an acknowledgement that there is a problem, let alone a message that they're looking at solving the issues being experienced by so many people.

I deleted the itunes.app file from the Applications folder. Found the 11.0.2 version in my Time Machine backup and copied that in the Applications folder.

That won't run because the "iTunes Library.itl" is from the new version and won't load into the older version of iTunes. Not to worry though, because iTunes keeps historical backups of the library file in a folder called "Previous iTunes Libraries". So retrieved the one dated just before the release date of 11.0.3 copied to the iTunes folder, renamed it and...

STABILITY!!!

The only problem I have to resolve now is how to identify the music files in the iTunes Music folder that were added after the library file was created!! Anyone know how to do that easily?
