Does iCloud backup to Time Machine when created on a Mac

Hi,

Ive decided to store some pages and numbers documents onto the iCloud to allow access when out and about on my various devices but are these documents backed up to Time Machine.

Thank you

No, what you put in iCloud will not be backup on your local Time Machine back unless you have a cope stored on your hard drive.

Hi, I'm not a computer whiz, so I hope this question is not silly:

I cant see a folder called "mobile documents" in my library. Are you able to tell me if OS X has changed now, or could to please tell me the right place to look?

I really like the way iCloud works and want to keep it really clean by only using iCloud accounts on my devices - however am concerned this means that if somthing goes wrong with iCloud then I lose everything(?)

Help would be appreciated 🙂

I see where Mobile Documents is in my Library, but how does one go about restoring an iCloud Drive document? I've been playing around and seeing if it is possible. If I open a finder window with Mobile Documents, it changes the window when I go into Time Machine so that I can no longer access the Pages, Numbers, etc. apps. Same thing happens when I just go into Time Machine and then go to iCloud Drive. I think. It's a bit awkward, and I'm still playing around with it. Anybody have a simple set of steps for accessing iCloud docs once in Time Machine, and restoring them?

Thanks, Csound1. Both your response and some from randers4 on this topic have been helpful. All the AppleCare techs are not aware of this (I just chatted with one this morning that said the iWork docs on iCloud are not backed up by Time Machine). I thought I had verified that they are backed up by opening my Time Machine Backups.backupdb on Time Capsule and locating the files iCloud files there. Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

Nothing has changed, the folder is in your user library, not the system library (which is where you probably looked).

~/library/ is the user library, enter that in Go To Folder and you'll be there.
