Add Logo to Scrolling title directly in FCPX?

Is there a way to insert logos to a scrolling title directly in FCPX?

I don't think you can do it with the "Scrolling" title just the way it is, but if you have Motion you may use this as a starting point for such a title. Control-click on the title and "Open a Copy in Motion".

In Motion, I was able to add a "Drop Zone", so I could add the logo back in FCP X. Then I added a "Match Move" behavior to this drop zone, so that it moves on the screen accompanying the scrolling text. I also added a rig (a slider) so that I could easily move the "logo" up or down relatively to the text.

This gave me a very rough version of something you might use. I don't plan to develop it further (it just gave me an excuse to try stuff in Motion), but if you feel it may help I may post it somewhere online (as is, with no guarantes, of course).

FWIW…unless you want to use this as an opportunity to dive into Motion (and while fun, it can be a deep dive), the end result may not be worth the effort. Alternatively, just layer your logo with transparency over the credit scroll clip and key frame it to appear at the correct position, time and duration. (This is what Luis was referring to in his first post.)

Good luck.

I tried, but it is impossible for me to make the logo going at same position/speed of text scrolling. In other words, it isn't strictly anchored to the text movement, and I can't find the way to do it...

I already wrote all scrolling text in FCPX, and now, in the timeline I can't use the "open in motion" option, so I guess I have to remake the title at all, starting from the titles' browser.... right?

You don't open in Motion from the timeline, you do it from the title browser.

If you do modify the title, you will then add the new title to the timeline, and paste the text from the old title and remove the old one.

But since you don't seem to be familiar with Motion, remember Russ's advice: this is a deep dive.

In the meantime, here is my coarse attempt at something like that. Maybe it will serve you, or maybe it will give you ideas on how to better achieve what you want.

To install, expand the zip file and place the folder inside ~/Movies/Motion Templates/Titles

I think the answer to this question is just a plain "no".

Anything like this, has to be done in Motion.

I struggle to see how the convenience of "changing the names more quickly" outweighs how much time you need to spend trying to figure out how to make this work using FCPX alone.

If you did this in Motion, you could publish it as a template and make the scrolling text a parameter - editable in FCPX - best of both worlds?

With anything you create in Motion there are douzains of parameters which you can decide to PUBLISH.

Any and all parameters that are published in Motion will be editable in FCP X.

You can also create RIGS, which are a very powerful mechanism for controlling parameters - either individually or as a group.

In the (admittedly very coarse) example I posted in a previous message, you have a slider that you can use to move the logo up and down. That is an example of a rig.

Keep in mind that Motion is an extremely powerful application. Power does not come without a coist.

The learning curve may be steep.

Below is just as an example of "my" title in action. Notice in the inspector the drop zone for the logo. There is a slider that allows you to move the logo up or down. To make room for it I just added a few blank lines of text.
