My Yahoo email won't stay signed-in - keeps asking for password. The box is checked to stay signed-in. Has been fine for several years until now.

You may have a corrupt setting in Mail. Select Mail - Prefrences - Accounts - Choose the account with the problem then re-input ALL prefrences even though they may look OK. Then restart the computer in Safe Mode, this will clear some caches.
Test with Safari extensions Off via Safari - Preferences - Extensions
Failing that, try in a new or Guest user account, if it works there you'll know the problem lies within your usual account or settings.
To be clear, given the response concerning Mail application... you are talking about Safari & the yahoo mail website - right ?

Yahoo - Mail Options - the "Turn on SSL" box was checked - un-checked the box and it worked.
