Facebook contacts not syncing

I don't know why your iPad has not been affected by this odd server miscommunication when my iPad and others' have been. Perhaps it hasn't attempted to sync with Facebook's servers yet. I know my iPhone was unaffected until a couple days after this all started. Either way I am almost positive that this is an issue that has nothing to do with whatever version of iOS your device is running because 1. People with devices running 6.1.3 and 6.1.4 are experiencing the issue, 2. There was someone on the support community saying that his/her MacBook contacts were affected, and 3. These issues did not arise until nearly a month of 6.1.4 being out; if it were truly a problem with the operating system then there would be people complaining about this from the day the update went live instead of last Friday. It's always convenient to blame the newest update to some service when something doesn't go as intended but using your own disparity in experiencing this issue on your two devices is not proving anything when so many people are experiencing this regardless of the iOS version (except that it can only be experienced on iOS 6).

Also of note to show that it is most definitely something on Facebook's end, as I do not know if you've paid attention, but the fix regarding changing the Facebook friends' privacy settings works on both versions of iOS. I at least doubt that the apple care technicians are not all still on iPhone 4S or earlier when they all realized this was happening and I could replicate the issue on my end.

Also of note to show that it is most definitely something at Apples end of things, as I don't know if you have paid attention to all that I have shared... so I'll repeat this AGAIN.

I have a windows phone - which also syncs contacts with facebook. That has ALL of my facebook contacts. If this were a problem with Facebook alone... how come it has not affected my windows phone facebook contacts?

Where does my logic fail here? Personally I can't see the flaw.

In any case... having you and I arguing this point insessantly will make no difference to the outcome. I'll wait for 6.1.5 for the fix (hopefully).

OK. This does explain it. The key factor here I think is that Facebook contact syncing is controlled BY the Facebook APP that is installed (rather than iOS) I bet the app on my iPad with 6.1.3 has an older version. My new iPhone definitely has the newest Facebook App.

Also explains why my Windows Phone was unaffected... as their syncing is done by the O/S and under Microsoft's control rather than Facebook.

So... Ryunlong... you were absolutely right... and I was absolutely wrong.

I don't think facebook has it completely correct. Many of those no longer synced have valid email addresses (non-facebook) visible (they appear on my Windows Phone... so I am sure it's not a privacy setting) and therefore they would be useful additions to my contact list on the phone/iPad.

There seems to be a new issue I've noticed over the last few days. From what I can tell, now the only contacts that sync are ones who have verified their mobile numbers with FB. The few contacts I had showing since FB changed their policy (noted above), have now disappeared. I made one come back by having them verify their number.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I today downloaded iOS 8.2 for my iPhone 5c and I'm still experiencing this problem. I spoke on the phone with a tech person and then his boss; the CEO thinks a reset to factory settings on my iPhone might have created an error when syncing Facebook contacts. He'll get in touch with me tomorrow, but after reading these messages, I'm starting to think it's a combination of the updates from iTunes and the Facebook App.
