Ebay Cheap MacBooks UK (USA too?)

There are some extraordinarily cheap new Macbooks for sale on Ebay - are these legit? How come they are 75% or so cheaper than the Apple store?

There seem to be many happy buyers.

I saw them and I thought they looked very suspect indeed. What really put me off was the fact that when you looked at the people who had left feedback, all their accounts looked dodgy. And also, every seller when I looked had a positive score of 10, no more, and no less.

I'd hazard a guess that some conmen set up 11 accounts. One account sells an item to each of the 10 other accounts. Positive feedback is left. Then finally using the account with all the feedback they list a Macbook for sale. If someone buys, then that account ceases to exist and you've lost your cash.

Also, account hijacking is endemic on ebay these days. They get hold of the info for a legit seller and set up using their ID and feedback. ebay is not much good at policing these things.

A lot of people don't know, too, that ebay has a sort of non-judgmental complaints policy. If someone complains about a seller, then all the seller has to do is to file a counter complaint and ebay will remove both. This is how a lot of the worst ebay regulars stay in business. Any time someone puts bad comments, they just retaliate to make it disappear.

We're saying that people are NOT getting machines at those prices. Apple doesn't do deep discounting. Nobody gets machines from apple at a price that would let them make a profit selling at those prices. You will lose your money and NOT get a computer if you fall for those scams.

Any computer you buy from an apple-authorized reseller will be covered under warranty.

Take this item no for example 7772108924 (.com) or
this 8821713935 (.co.uk)

From what I can see

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8821713935

is legit

However £1199 is not a *really good* price.

I can get the same model from a reputable supplier (Inmac) for £999+ Vat = £1173
http://www.inmac.co.uk/catalogue/item/Y323728

The 1.83 MacBook Pro model is an older model which is no longer produced hence the pricing compared to current MacBook Pros which have a better specification.

The 1.83 MacBook can be had from Inmac for £748

couple time I come accross unbelieveble price on new mac product or a spoff spam email offer one, most of the I asked eBay moderator to check the legitimation, while I never get information about their action (eBay policy), the items are ussualy being removed by eBay if it is a spoff item.

Just check "item location" and "user location" mostly it is not match while the registered user location is in USA, the items is at UK or spain for example.

Payment method is asking for direct transfer or e-mail before bid and such. and time of listing is less than 48 hours.

You can learn more at eBay sites rather than this sites, I just don't want a potential Mac buyer dissapointed and hate apple because of irresponsible act of some people that want easy money from mac lover.
